Building Healthy Lives: This comprehensive program for middle and high school students addresses a variety of topics that assist them in the development of a healthy self, relationships with others and relationships in the community.
Count To Ten: This curriculum, adaptable for all grade levels, teaches youth positive anger and impulse management skills and peaceful conflict resolution techniques adaptable to school, home and social life.
Healthy Family Training: The program coordinates health, education, and family social services for pregnant and parenting teens to ensure proper care for the teen and the child. The curriculum builds awareness to prevent child abuse and neglect and subsequent pregnancies.
Me In The Mirror: This curriculum for middle and high school students encourages the development of a healthy body image and self-esteem in both girls and boys. It addresses such issues as the media's influence on body image and techniques to increase self-esteem.
Peer Mediation: This training teaches students of all ages the skills needed to successfully mediate conflict among their peers. These skills include how to listen to parties in conflict, how to mediate the situation and turn the conflict into a positive experience in problem-solving.
Real Life, Real Relationships: This comprehensive program addresses dating violence and date rape from a prevention perspective. The curriculum teaches teens how to make dating safe and fair, communicate sexual limits, recognize and prevent abusive behavior and develop healthy relationships.
Stand Up For You: This program addresses bullying in our communities and encourages coping and action. Students will learn healthy alternatives for dealing with various types of bullying and the effects of bullying.
We Are One: This program raises awareness about prejudice and discrimination, and encourages tolerance. Students develop an appreciation for diversity and learn ways to counteract prejudice and stereotypes.
After School & Summer Programs: These programs, for elementary and middle school students, include a combination of tutoring, mentoring, recreation and violence prevention activities that help teach children how to deal with conflict and violence in and out of the classroom.
SportsLink: This program uses the high interest area of sports to help young women reach their full potential through prevention of at-risk behaviors such as teen pregnancy, substance abuse and school dropout. College athletes and coaches mentor participants and assist them in developing sports skills.
A.P.A.L. (Advocates for Positive Attitudes and Lifestyles): This program is a community service and leadership group for high school students. They provide mentoring and enrichment opportunities to youth in the community and assist with other PYC programs and events.
Parent & Community Education: Our parent and community education programs provide information on a variety of topics including effective parenting strategies, effective discipline, communication in the family, youth development and healthy family and peer relationships.
Teacher In-Services: These are available to K-12 educators to help reinforce the skills being taught to their students through PYC violence-prevention programs.
Individual & Family Counseling: All Progressive Youth Connection clinical staff are Master-Level Counselors and Social Workers that have the skills to advise and counsel youth and families. All sessions are confidential and third party billing arrangements are established on a case-by-case basis. We are also a certified Medicaid provider.
Support Groups: Progressive Youth Connection can provide a variety of groups that create an atmosphere of security for youth and allows them to gain emotional support and guidance. Groups are facilitated within the school or other organizational settings.
